This week, we challenge Mark Bittman to a cookoff, and give a quick sneak peak at next week’s episode: Pig Week Kickoff at Jimmy’s No. 43.
Yesterday was one of the best days of my life. Why? I spent the day working in the kitchen at one of my favorite NYC restaurants. And I do mean working: for 45 minutes, we had 3 cooks: Noah, another volunteer, who had set the menu with owner Jimmy; and Stacy, a regular chef at Jimmy’s. We were making 6 dishes for the buffet-style party. Noah had to leave and Stacy was on the phone with Aaron, the head chef, working out that night’s menu; for almost an hour, I was running the kitchen totally on my own. And it couldn’t have been more fun.
If you’re in NYC, stop by Jimmy’s No. 43 this week to enjoy some of the Pig Week festivities. We’ll be there tomorrow night for the beer + cheese + chocolate event, so come by and say hey. And be sure to tune in next week to see our full episode from yesterday!
In the meantime, join our friendly campaign to get Mark Bittman to come on WCFoodies. Tell him to join us on Twitter, on Facebook, and on his NYTimes blog.
Guys! I’m sorry for reblogging this, for those of you that follow the WCFoodies tumblr, but please! I doubt Mark Bittman even knows Working Class Foodies exists, but every tweet, facebook post, blog comment, and reblog you make can help get him on our show.
Still Crazy After All These Years
